Tennis Update by Vincent Miller

     As the new tennis season starts, a new team identity has taken shape for the 2010 season. OJR’s tennis team consists of 32 players both new and old, both JV and varsity. This year, the team expects to be very “competitive,” considering that the varsity team has elite players such as Tom Soares, Jordan Baker, Donny Kurtz, Brett Levengood, and Nate Rhen.

     The tennis coach fully expects that Tom Soares will compete in districts this year. Recently, the guys’ tennis team won their first match of the season. When asking Ms. Pointek (the assistant coach) her view on the team and its future, she said,” We have a lot of heart and a great team. Although there is always room for improvement.” When I asked her how we can improve, Ms. Pointek replied, “Through hard work and [being] a team.” Even though the team did not make the Pac-10s last year, there is a chance that they can this year. Come out and support the team before the season ends on April 22nd. Go Wildcats!
